Submission of Applications for OCI at the Consulate:

It is mandatory to come to Consulate for biometrics for OCI. There is no extra fee for biometrics. (Children above 5 years of age are required for OCI biometrics).
Applicants are required to bring only original documents for verification along with the photocopies of the documents required documents.
It is mandatory for foreign nationals married with Indian nationals are required to be present at the Consulate at the time of submission of OCI application for personal interview.
The timings of OCI Services are as under:
(Monday to Friday)
0930-1200 hrs. - Acceptance of OCI applications
1500-1600 hrs. – Delivery of New OCI Card
0900-1730 hrs - By Sedex (Monday to Friday)
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING THE FORM (https://passport.gov.in/oci/)
Applicants are advised to read the instructions before filling the OCI application. The OCI application has three Parts i.e. Part A, Part B and Part C. Part A has to be filled in for each applicant of the family and Parts B and C are common for all applicants of the family. Part A of the OCI application form is to be submitted on-line by the applicants whereupon a registration number will be generated which may be called Reference Number. Once Part A is submitted on-line, the applicant cannot make any changes to it. Henceforth, as per the latest instructions issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, it is compulsory for the applicant to upload the photograph, Signature and other related documents, like copy of passport, copy of birth certificate, copy of marriage certificate and any other documents in support of Indian origin with online application in the system. All the original documents are to be submitted with the application for physical verification at the Consulate. All other original documents will be returned after verification except the applicant’s passport.
Once the Part A is printed, it contains Reference Number (example BRAS00000210). Applicants can use this number to check status of their application on-line themselves from the website http://ociindia.nic.in/. Consulate General of India will not entertain status queries from individual applicants over telephone.
Documents to be Submitted by the Indian Passport Holder

  • Original Bank receipt of cash payment.
  • Application Form Part A, Part B and Part C duly filled and signed
  • A written/typed letter requesting for OCI Card, dully signed by applicant amplifying or clarifying any other aspect of Indian origin, based on documents submitted.
  • Photocopy of Indian Passport (personal particulars pages -1st four and last four and visa page) (submit original Passport for verification and cancellation) ** Photocopy pages dully attested by the applicant.
  • Photocopy of Identity Card (Brazilian) and Original Brazilian Passport. (Personal particulars pages, Photocopy dully attested by the applicant)
  • Naturalization certificate, attested by foreign office of Brazil (Itamaraty)
  • Surrender certificate/ renunciation certificate
  • 01 additional photograph of size not less than 51 x 51 mm or 2 inches x 2 inches in light blue or white background.
  • Photocopy of Birth Certificate and its English translation (Duly Apostilled/ attested by the authority) · Self-addressed envelope with an address proof in case of application submission by Sedex.
  • ** If Passport is not available/lost, kindly submit an affidavit mentioning the circumstances of the loss/damage along with a police report.
  • ** If foreign nationality was acquired on or after 01/06/2010, applicant needs to formally renounce the Indian citizenship and demand a surrender certificate from the consulate.

Documents to be Submitted by the Foreign Passport Holder

  • Original Bank receipt of cash payment.
  • Application Form Part A, Part B and Part C duly filled and signed
  • Photocopy of Indian Passport of Parent/Spouse (submit original Passport for verification)
  • Photocopy of Identity Card (Brazilian) and Original Brazilian Passport.
  • 03 photographs of size not less than 51 x 51 mm or 2 inches x 2 inches in light blue or white background.
  • Photocopy of Birth Certificate and its English translation (Duly attested by the authority)
  • Photocopy of Marriage Certificate and its English Translation (Duly Attested by the authority). It may be noted that an applicant applying for OCI on the basis of spouse, must ensure that he/she has been married for at least 02 years with the Indian National and the marriage has been registered with the concerning authority. OCI on basis of spouse will be issued only on security clearance from Ministry of Home Affairs, India.
  • Self-addressed envelope with an address proof.

* NOTE: Indian Passport of applicant / parents / grandparents / great grandparents are primary documentary proof of Indian origin. In case where this is not available, secondary proof (such as House Registration / Domicile Certificate / Revenue records / Education Certificate) may be submitted, which will be subject to verification from issuing authorities. Applicants are advised to have secondary proof attested from concerned government authorities before applying for PIO Card/OCI Card.
In addition, any one or more of the following documents will be required to establish your Indian Origin or link to Person of Indian Origin. These will also be arranged by applicant in sequence given below.
Photocopy of Passport of parents/grand parents/great grandparents (submit original Passport for verification) Proof of relationship with parents/grandparents/great grandparents (submit original proof for verification) Photocopy of documents in case there has been a change in Name/Surname along with its English translation
Photocopy of previous Indian passport (submit original Passport for verification) Photocopy of House Registration Certificate (or any other secondary proof) and its English translation (submit original House Registration Certificate /any other secondary proof for verification) A written/typed letter amplifying or clarifying any other aspect of Indian origin, based on documents submitted. If applying on basis of OCI Card holder, photocopy of OCI Card and proof of relationship (submit original OCI Card and original proof of relationship) Check list of documents in sequence as per format given in these instructions.
